Procedure:

1) Soak Basmati Rice and Split Green Gram Dal in water for one hour.
2) Heat a Vessel (non-stick) and add oil.
3) Once the Oil is heated add Cinnamon and Cardamom, sauté for a minute.
4) Add Onion, Green Chillies and fry till golden brown.
5) Add Ginger Garlic Paste and sauté it for two minutes.
6) Add Tomato and fry till it is cooked for 2 to 3 minutes.
7) After the Tomato is cooked add 4 cups (800 grams) of water.
8) Add Salt, Turmeric Powder, Mint Leaves and Coriander Leaves and stir well.
9) When the water is boiled add rice and leave it in a medium flame for 20 minutes.
10) After 20 minutes serve it hot.

KHICHDI WITH SPLIT GREEN GRAM DAL

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice – 2 Cups (400 grams)
Split Green Gram Dal  (Moong Dal) – ½ cup (100        

                                                                             grams)
Cinnamon – 2 Nos.
Cardamom – 2 Nos.
Onion (sliced) – 2 Nos.
Green Chillies (split) – 2 Nos.
Tomato (chopped) – ½ No.
Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 teaspoons
Turmeric Powder – ½ teaspoon
Salt – 2 teaspoons
Oil – 8 teaspoons
Coriander leaves – Few
Mint leaves – Few
